Labor day is just about a week away, which means football season is just around the corner. I’m going to be in Austin over Labor Day weekend to see the UT season opener. They’re playing the oh-so-mighty Mean Green Eagles of Denton, TX, and I expect the game to be well over by halftime. My parents will be driving down for the weekend to sit in the Green wedge. I’ll probably end up being a burnt orange speck in the wedge since my mom got me a ticket to sit with them. My uncle, Howard, is also going to be in Austin that weekend, and I’m looking forward to hanging out with him as well as my parents. I’ll have dinner plans with them every night, but I expect to hit downtown at least one night, possibly two. To show my age, I’d rather spend time in the warehouse district if we go out as opposed to Sixth. As much as I love the Yager Bombs and big beers at Logan’s, I’m more of a red wine guy nowadays. There are a couple wine bars that would be fun to check out. The first is brand new and called Cru. It’s a couple blocks from the Warehouse district near 2nd street. The name may be familiar to Dallas people since the original Cru is in uptown Dallas. The other bar is Cork and Co., and it’s on Congress near 3rd Street. Most of my plans aren’t solidified, but it looks like I’ll be playing golf on Sunday afternoon. When I know more about how my weekend will shape up, I’ll make another post.

I don’t know about this.
